Overview

This is the flagship annual gathering for the industry. Running over 30 years, the Insurance Ireland annual lunch is a must attend event for senior executives from the Irish and international re/insurance sector.

This year’s Annual lunch features a return to in-person engagement and will take place on Thursday, 16th June 2022 at the InterContinental hotel, Simmonscourt Road, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4. With industry big brands and key decision makers attending the event, the Insurance Ireland annual lunch is the place to meet, network and do business with peers and clients. We have big plans for the 2022 Insurance Ireland annual lunch. Currently, our society and economy face a strong period of change with emerging risks such as climate change, digitalisation and inflation unfolding across the marketplace.

Over the years, we have had many prestigious keynote speakers including Professor Alan Ahearne, Economic Advisor to An Taoiseach Micheál Martin and Professor Philip Lane, former Governor of the Central Bank of Ireland. This year we are delighted to announce Gabriel Makhlouf Governor of the Central Bank of Ireland as Our Keynote Speaker. He chairs the Central Bank Commission, is a member of the Governing Council of the European Central Bank, a member of the European Systemic Risk Board, and is Ireland's Alternate Governor at the International Monetary Fund.

Financial institutions are operating in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment. As a consequence of the global financial crisis and more recently Brexit and the Covid-19 pandemic, governments and regulators have become much more proactive with a view to improving oversight, regulation and protection of the consumer. In light of this, the regulatory landscape has fundamentally changed and operations, structure and location of regulated businesses are continuously being adapted in response to these developments. At Matheson we believe that your professional advisers should give you a commercial advantage in dealing with these changes.

Matheson's Financial Institutions Group unites lawyers with extensive industry experience, corporate transactional experience and regulatory knowledge who are solely focused on financial institutions. This ensures that clients do not spend time educating their lawyers on industry issues. The market-leading Financial Institutions Group is pro-active, dynamic and focussed on results, providing a full-range of legal services to domestic and international insurance and reinsurance companies, captive insurance companies and insurance intermediaries active in the Irish market.  We advise insurance clients on complex transactional and governance and regulatory compliance matters and restructuring work, reinsurance transactional work and on transactions of strategic importance such as distribution arrangements and outsourcing transactions. We appreciate the importance of knowing regulatory expectations and ensuring that our advice is aligned with those expectations. The breadth and depth of the Group ensures a client focused approach, which is strategic, responsive and solution-oriented.
